Gen Con 2013 – Part 2
At this point I think most of my readers know I do a lot of conventions. One of the things that I like about Gen Con is that it’s a show where original art is greatly appreciated, and sometimes even purchased. This makes my set-up different from most shows because I have the opportunity to pull out all my original paintings from the last year. I love the look of having all those framed paintings behind me!
After finishing set-up we got together with a few friends and shoveled noodles in our faces!
Thursday at Gen Con was great! We sold art all day, and then fought monsters all night at True Dungeon. It was a tiring experience, so we celebrated with Milk Shakes!
For those L5R fans out there, the girl in the above photo is my friend Sarah, and she was the model for Moto Daiken. Murf from the Unicorn Clan gave out a bunch of my Moto Daiken prints as gifts at the Gen Khan 2013 Unicorn Clan Dinner. After Sarah found out, she very proudly announced, “I am a gift to the Unicorns!”
On Friday I got back to work selling art. That night we had the Art Show reception. Congrats to Aaron Miller for winning best in show! Afterwards, a bunch of us went out to dinner with the Fantasy Flight crew. Thanks to Andrew Navaro and Fantasy Flight for a fun night!
As per usual Saturday was CRAZY at Gen Con. Sold lots of art, signed stuff, and sold an original painting! Saturday night I helped judge the Legend of the Five Rings Costume Contest.
After that we met up with an old friend for dinner, but had to call it an early night so I could catch up on sleep and draw some zombies!
Sunday was also pretty wild. We survived the experience and I’m already excited for next year! Hurray for Gen Con!!!
