This week the new Black Crusade supplement “The Tome of Decay” was released. The book is from the Warhammer 40K based roleplaying game called Black Crusade, where you take the role of the “bad guys” in 40K. As the name implies “The Tome of Decay” is filled with all sorts of wonderfully nasty rules for embracing Grandfather Nurgle and his various plagues.
When I was approached by Fantasy Flight to work on this project I was very excited because back when I played 40K my army was a Nurgle themed one. It has always been a goal of my art career to get to work on 40K, and specifically a Nurgle project. Now I’m proud to say I’ve been asked to paint the creatures of Nurgle a few times!
One of the roles you can play is the Death Priest of Mire, and I got to design him. The art description was great, weird Nurgle cultist with bloated gut, and pestilent slime covered blade.
