L5R Art – Ogre Falconer (Masajiro)

The new L5R set is out and it’s called The New Order. I have one new card in the set, Ogre Falconer (Masajiro). He is the son of a famous L5R Ogre named Kayomasa who protected Daigotsu, the leader of the Spider Clan. Once again I found myself reinterpreting the art of Drew Baker!
For Kayomasa’s son I imagined him to be more of a ranger wandering in search of his purpose. I love the idea of him having an affinity for vultures, an animal I absolutely LOVE to paint. I’m always so amazed by vultures—their sleek efficiency is fascinating to me. They are great fun to paint, so I was pleased that the art director let me include them!
