The Hávamál Project – Day 24, verse 144
Today’s verse refers to the various rune writers of the different races. Othin is another way of spelling Odin. Of the Elf King Dain little is known, but there is a sword called “Dain’s Legacy” that is cursed to kill a man whenever it is drawn. Dvalin, the Dwarf King, translates as “the dormant one.” Alsvith translates as “All-Wise.” The last line again refers to Odin, who wrote the runes for gods and men.
