The Hávamál Project – Day 24, verse 144

Havamal_V144_text_webToday’s verse refers to the various rune writers of the different races. Othin is another way of spelling Odin. Of the Elf King Dain little is known, but there is a sword called “Dain’s Legacy” that is cursed to kill a man whenever it is drawn. Dvalin, the Dwarf King, translates as “the dormant one.” Alsvith translates as “All-Wise.” The last line again refers to Odin, who wrote the runes for gods and men.
